Course Description
Topics explored in this course will include food preferences and taboos, preparation and consumption, food as a topic of conversation and creation, beliefs about foods, food metaphors, social structure in seating and eating, meals and manners, food and sex, food and identity, food and power, food and the senses. This is the first part of an overall arch of three-semester course design.
 

課程目標
Course Objectives
As the first part of a long-term seminar project, this course aims to acquaint the learner with the essentials of Food Discourse and how they inspire and influence the modern prosody. While the main focus of this course shall stay on the anthropological aspect of food studies, extensive interdisciplinary is required to further Food Discourse into literary contexts. Poetic texts, mainly featuring Contemporary Poetry, may trace back to Modern Poetry for reference.
